Registration and Check-In Times for 2014


Please join us Saturday, April 12, 2014 for a day of family fun in the Flint Hills of Wabaunsee County, KS. The 10th Annual Cabin Fever Challenge will begin/finish at Wamego West Elementary School, 1911 6th St, Wamego, KS. Registration begins at 7am. Wamego will be celebrating 27th Annual Tulip Festival throughout the weekend with activities and fun for the whole family.


New this year: We are excited to offer three new routes this year. The 36 and 59 mile routes offer up scenic vistas of the famous Flint Hills of Kansas.


Net proceeds from the ride are deposited in the 501c3 WAM-SAG-MAN Trail account in the Wamego Community Foundation. You can donate on-line directly to the trail fund by accessing this page


Shipping your bike or renting a bike

If you are flying into Manhattan for this event and want to ship your bicycle, contact The Pathfinder, 785-539-5639. Dave Colburn is the Manager and the mailing address is: 304 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502. They charge approx $40 to reassemble your bicycle. Make sure your bike arrives before April 10.

If you are flying into Manhattan and want to rent a bicycle, contact Big Poppi's Bike Shop, 785-537-3737. Contact them ASAP to make sure they have a bicycle to fit your needs. Their mailing address is: 1126 Moro Street, Manhattan, KS 66502.


Cabin Fever Challenge includes three paved routes:

59 mile Route: Map

Check-in:  7 am until 745 am.

Pre-ride announcements: 745 am. 

Mass start:  All riders depart at 8 am.


36 mile Route: Map

Check-in:  7 am until 745 am.

Pre-ride announcements: 745am.

Mass start:  All riders depart at 8 am.


14 mile Route: Map

Check-in:  7 am until 745 am. 

Pre-ride announcements: 745am.

Mass Start:  All riders depart at 8 am.


Course closes for all routes at 2 pm.



Your pre-registration form must be received by April 1, 2014 if you plan to join us for breakfast.  Pre-registration is $35 for the 36 and 59 mile routes.  Pre-registration is $25 for the 14 mile route.  All entry fees are non-refundable. Fee goes up $5 if you register after April 4 or if you register the morning of the ride.


Previous event tees, water bottles etc will be up for sale on a first come first served basis on April 12.


Breakfast is available for non-riding family/friends for $10 if the pre-registration form is received by April 1*. 


Our caterer needs a ‘head count’ in order to prepare enough food.  This means that breakfast is available if you pre-register (riders and non-riders) by April 1.

Pre-Registered Entry Fee Includes

- Event tee if registered by April 1.

- Breakfast before the ride (7 am – 745 am) (*for riders and non-riders if pre-registered by April 1.)
- Fruit, homemade cookies and other snacks, water and Gatorade at rest stops.

- Mechanical adjustments provided by The Pathfinder and Big Poppi's.
- Route support.
- No shower facilities this year.


Rest Stops

Rest stops will be about every 8-13 miles. We will have support vehicles traveling the route if transportation is required.  Call the 'Command Central' number on your map if you cannot finish your route. Your bicycle should be in good working order and you should carry a repair kit that includes spare tube, patch kit, and frame pump, etc. Riders unable to finish will be transported back to Wamego West Elementary School.


Driving Directions

On Interstate 70, take exit 328 (Hwy 99). Go north on Hwy 99, 9 miles to Wamego. Turn left on 4th St (stop light) and go west to Parkview Dr where you will turn right. Go north to 6th St taking a left turn on 6th St. The entrance to West Elementary is at the top of the hill on your left. Coming east on Hwy 24, turn right on Columbian Rd. Coming west on Hwy 24 go through town and turn left at the top of the hill on Columbian Rd. Take Columbian Rd to 6th St (3rd left turn available). You will see West Elementary on your right at the top of the hill.
