Check-In Times & Ride Information

Registration and Check-In Times for 2014 (REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN).

Please join us Saturday, September 27, 2014 for a day of family fun. The 10th Annual Yellow Brick Road Ride will begin/finish at West Elementary School, 1911 6th Street, Wamego, KS. Registration begins at 630am. The YBRR is held in conjunction with OZtoberFest, an event with activities for all ages.

 

Net proceeds from the ride are deposited in the 501c3 WAM-SAG-MAN Trail account in the Wamego Community Foundation. You can donate on-line directly to the trail fund by accessing this page www.thewcf.org/Giving/donate.shtml. We need your help to bring this project to fruition.

 

Shipping your bike or renting a bike:

If you are flying into Manhattan for this event and want to ship your bicycle, contact The Pathfinder, 785-539-5639. Dave Colburn is the Manager and the mailing address is: 304 Poyntz Avenue,  Manhattan, KS 66502. Contact Dave to find out how much they charge to re-assemble your bicycle. Make sure your bike arrives before September 24.

 

If you are flying into Manhattan and want to rent a bicycle or need to ship your bicycle and have it re-assembled, contact Big Poppi's Bike Shop, 785-537-3737. Contact them ASAP to make sure they have a bicycle to fit your needs. Their mailing address is: 1126 Moro Street, Manhattan, KS 66502.

52 Mile Route Map

Check-in:  630 am until 710 am. 

Mass start:  Pre-ride announcements at 715am. All riders depart at 730 am.

 

28 mile Route:  Map

This event is open to all ages and abilities. Course closes for all routes at 1 pm.

 

Pre-Registration

Pre-registration is $35 for the 28 & 52 mile routes.  Pre-Registration is $30 for the 17 mile route. All entry fees are non-refundable.  An extra $5 will be added for all riders who register the morning of the ride.

 

Breakfast is available for non-riding family/friends for $10.

 

Extra event tees will be available on September 27 for $20 each.

Pre-Registered Entry Fee Includes

- Breakfast before the ride (630 am – 7:10 am) (*for participants, and non-riders (extra $10)
- Fruit, homemade cookies and other snacks and water/Gatorade at rest stops.

- Awesome volunteers.

 

Rest Stops and Support Vehicles

Rest stops will be about every 8-13 miles. Beverages and snacks will be provided.   We will have support vehicles traveling the route if transportation is required.  Your bicycle should be in good working order and you should carry a repair kit that includes spare tube, patch kit, and frame pump, etc. Riders unable to finish will be transported back to Wamego.

 

Driving Directions

On Interstate 70, take exit 328 (Hwy 99). Go north on Hwy 99, 9 miles to Wamego. Turn left on 4th St (stop light) and go west to Parkview Dr where you will turn right. Go north to 6th St taking a left turn on 6th St. The entrance to West Elementary is at the top of the hill on your left. Coming east on Hwy 24, turn right on Columbian Rd. Coming west on Hwy 24 go through town and turn left at the top of the hill on Columbian Rd. Take Columbian Rd to 6th St (3rd left turn available). You will see West Elementary on your right at the top of the hill.
